This year’s Tangible, Embedded and Embodied Interaction (TEI) conference, in Eindhoven, NL, is hosting a workshop on “Sonic mediation and embodied social relations” on February 14-16.
The TEI 2016 Studio/Workshop Soundobject explores social relations as mediated by sound and the body. It aims to explore theoretical notions of mediation through practical construction of tangible, embedded, embodied objects and experiences, using smart materials and DIY electronics. Participants do not need any technical skills or subject expertise to participate, but should submit a one-page position paper explaining their interest in the area.
If you’re planning on being there, register for the workshop here.
Upon completion, participants should understand the theoretical basis of mediated interaction, and the relationship between sound and social relations. They will have utilised design methods appropriate to interactions mediated by sound and tangible, embedded technologies. They will learn practical skills in employing, deploying and testing such technologies, grounded in and evaluated by relevant theory.
